Somehow I let 9 months slip by without getting around to posting, and I'm only doing so now to procrastinate my homework! It would be impossible to tell you all that's happened in our lives since then, but they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Let me know if they're right!

Ok, so now that we're settled with all of our things and Brasilia isn't quite so new anymore, I'm starting to lose my motivation to blog. Obviously. But not so gentle prodding from family and friends reminds me that I should probably get going again. :)
It's been so long... The most obvious thing by far is the difference in weather between Nebraska and Brasilia on December 25th. It was 85 and sunny for most of the day here, while in Nebraska around Christmas, you always have to wonder if you're going to have to dig yourself out of a couple Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468395766181416010noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7407064368195770133.post-76980960242111277582010-12-13T05:45:00.000-08:002010-12-13T05:45:28.152-08:00November in BrazilNovember in Brazil has been eventful! So eventful, in fact, that I didn't have time to write about it. :) We started out the month by staying out late on Halloween and drinking too much at an embassy party. It was a very fun night filled with dancing to a VJ, and lots of crazy costumes. (And Pictures)Ok, so remember me talking about the Foreign Service Officer Test a couple of weeks ago? I didn't prepare for it, I ran out of time, I knew I didn't pass, etc. Well I got the results on Wednesday. I passed! I was incredibly surprised, and don't really know what to think about it. The minimum score for the multiple choice was 154, and I had a 157. I'll be honest; there are a whole lot of pretty weird people that work for the federal government at every level. We ran into lots of them in DC. Here, however, there is no Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468395766181416010noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7407064368195770133.post-40666185577657370662010-10-18T06:49:00.000-07:002010-10-18T07:01:21.775-07:00A few Brasilia picturesSo today is October 18th, and we arrived on October 3rd. I'm somewhat conflicted on my feelings about this. On one hand, it feels like these last two weeks have just flown by because we've been so busy. On the other, Brasilia is already starting to feel like home and it's hard to believe we've only been here for two weeks!
On first impression, I really like Brasilia.&Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468395766181416010noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7407064368195770133.post-37529192241978996582010-10-06T05:57:00.000-07:002010-10-06T05:57:48.839-07:00We Made It!WARNING: This is a super long post! Lots has happened lately, and I've tried to cover it all so it got a little out of hand. Read at your own risk!
Sarah and I are officially at post and this is Sarah's third day. It's been a crazy last week! The Housing Assistant sent us an email detailing the apartment that will probably be ours. It is about 1500 square feet, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, den, servant quarters, garage, and, most importantly, 110v outlets! This means that we don't have to buy lots of adapters or new appliances. The situation has certainly changed in the last couple of weeks. In short, I've decided not to take any classes. The ConGen course wouldn't work, and trying to get ready to leave while being in Portuguese class for 8 hours a day just wasn't feasible. I'm already basically a transient, with nothing but temporary homes in the world.
It has always been top priority to find a job wherever we end up. It is important for me to continue in my career, wherever that may take me, and keep busy. First, we have a lot of friends and family that we are going to be out of contact with, and want to keep them up on what is going on with us. As we share our experiences, I hope that you will respond with how things are going for you too!
